13th Cyprus Wine Competition 2022

The Results of the 13th Cyprus Wine Competition

 

With 3 grand gold, 47 gold, and 6 silver medals, as well as 8 special distinctions, the 13th Cyprus Wine Competition was completed on the 6th of May 2022.

In this year’s competition, which was held under the auspices of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment and the International Organization of Vine and Wine, based on approved and recognized international standards, 33 wineries participated with 178 different wine samples.

Vlassides Winery received five gold medals and two silver medals during the official awards ceremony, held in Limassol after the completion of the competition:

1st place: «Vlassides Cabernet Sauvignon 2019», Dry Red, PGI Limassol- GOLD MEDAL

24th place: «Vlassides Merlot 2019», Dry Red, PGI Limassol- GOLD MEDAL

25th place: «Grifos 3 2021», Dry Rose, Varietal Wine- GOLD MEDAL

26th place: «Vlassides Sauvignon blanc 2021», Dry White, PGI Limassol- GOLD MEDAL

43rd place: «Grifos 2 2021», Dry White, Varietal Wine- GOLD MEDAL

47th place: «Alates 2020», Dry White, PDO Krasochoria Limassol- SILVER MEDAL

48th place: «Vlassides Shiraz 2020» Dry Red, PGI Limassol- SILVER MEDAL

The Chairman of the jury, Professor Valeriu Cotea, praised the quality of Cypriot wines, especially white and rosé and pointed out that there is room for improvement. He, however, expressed the confidence that the quality will improve as, as he said, there are a lot of experienced and impassioned oenologists in Cyprus with and the technology and know how to do so.
