Four Distinctions at the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles 2026

Vlassides Winery has once again been recognised at the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles 2026, one of the world’s most prestigious and respected international wine competitions, earning a total of four distinctions that reaffirm its unwavering commitment to quality and the authentic expression of the Cypriot vineyard.

The highest honour was awarded to Artion 2020, which received the Grand Gold Medal, the competition’s highest distinction. This prestigious award is reserved exclusively for wines that achieve exceptionally high scores from the international judging panel of the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, making it one of the most significant accolades a wine can receive on the global stage.

A blend of Merlot (42%), Cabernet Sauvignon (33%) and Shiraz (25%), Artion 2020 impressed the judges with its complex aromatic profile, revealing notes of blackcurrant leaf, grass, green bell pepper, mint, tomato leaf, tobacco and cocoa. On the palate, it stood out for its generous fruit character, elegant tannic structure and remarkably long finish, showcasing outstanding balance, depth and complexity.

The sparkling Eddial 2021 was awarded a Gold Medal. Produced from Chardonnay (60%) and Sauvignon Blanc (40%), it was recognised for the freshness and precision of its aromatic profile. The nose displays vibrant aromas of lemon and grapefruit, complemented by delicate hints of walnut. On the palate, it is round, lively and perfectly consistent with the aromas on the nose, offering excellent balance, refreshing acidity and a long, persistent finish.

Όroman 2022 received a Silver Medal, highlighting the potential of Giannoudi, Cyprus’ flagship indigenous red grape variety. The judges praised its expressive nose, characterised by aromas of grass, leaves, eucalyptus and mint, complemented by notes of blackberry, wild red berries, vanilla and cedarwood. Elegant and harmonious on the palate, it displays remarkable balance and concludes with an exceptionally expressive, lingering finish.

Finally, Alátes 2023, made from 100% Xynisteri, received the newly introduced CMB Merit distinction. Launched by the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles in 2026, CMB Merit recognises wines that achieve a score of at least 86 points during the judging process. The distinction acknowledges wines of outstanding quality that deserve international recognition, even if they fall outside the limited number of medals awarded under the competition’s medal allocation rules. Alátes 2023 was recognised for its purity and elegance, displaying aromas of pear and pome fruit with delicate herbal notes. On the palate, it is refined and beautifully balanced, supported by refreshing acidity that delivers freshness, vibrancy and length.

This year’s results once again demonstrate Vlassides Winery’s unwavering dedication to producing wines of exceptional quality, showcasing both Cyprus’ indigenous grape varieties and the international varieties cultivated in the winery’s vineyards in Koilani, one of the renowned wine-producing villages of the Limassol wine region.
